AMBULANCE CALL

An Ambulance Call is a SERVICE REQUEST.

An Ambulance Call is a call received into the Ambulance Control Room.

This could be a direct 999 call or a call transferred from another ORGANISATION.

Every call received into the Ambulance Control Room is given a unique AMBULANCE CALL IDENTIFIER.

An AMBULANCE VEHICLE may be dispatched to provide treatment to the PATIENT face to face, with onward transport to a hospital or other destination if required. Alternatively, the PATIENT may be given advice via telephone or video consultation and not require an AMBULANCE VEHICLE response.

AMBULANCE CONTROL ROOM

An Ambulance Control Room is a SERVICE.

An Ambulance Control Room is provided by an Ambulance Service.

An Ambulance Control Room, also known as an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), is provided by an Ambulance Service and is where 999 calls and calls from CARE PROFESSIONALS are received and triaged.

A call can be a direct 999 call or a call transferred from another ORGANISATION.

AMBULANCE VEHICLES are dispatched from the Ambulance Control Room to respond to PATIENTS.

AMBULANCE INCIDENT

An Ambulance Incident is a CARE CONTACT.

An Ambulance Incident is a call to the Ambulance Control Room that, following initial triage, requires a face to face response from the Ambulance Service or can be resolved with telephone advice and any appropriate actions agreed with the PATIENT.

An Ambulance Service is a SERVICE.

An Ambulance Service is a SERVICE provided by an ORGANISATION for the provision of PATIENT transport services.An Ambulance Service is the NHS Trust or NHS Foundation Trust that provides Emergency Ambulance Services for a specific GEOGRAPHIC AREA.

 Ambulance Services may also deliver Patient Transport Services for scheduled journeys and the NHS 111 Service for non-emergency health advice.
