A Shared Care Consultant is a CONSULTANT who may participate in shared care for a given Consultant Episode (Hospital Provider) associated with one PATIENT. This information should be recorded for allocating costs and ACTIVITY between two or more CONSULTANTS where care is shared.

Shared care may occur when two or more CONSULTANTS participate equally in the continuing care of a PATIENT during an episode. This specifically excludes CONSULTANTS acting only in an advisory capacity.
