A CONSULTANT may participate in shared care for a given Consultant Out-Patient Episode associated with one PATIENT.

This information may be recorded for allocating costs and ACTIVITY between two or more CONSULTANTS where care is shared.

Shared care may occur when two or more CONSULTANTS participate equally in the continuing care of a PATIENT during an episode. This specifically excludes CONSULTANTS acting only in an advisory capacity.
